Join us for an inspiring tale of resilience, rediscovery, and identity with a special screening of My Brain: After the Rupture–the indelible story of broadcaster, writer, musician, and former WQXR Creative Director Clemency Burton-Hill as she emerges from a 17-day coma. Following a catastrophic brain hemorrhage, this film follows Clemmie as she tries to rebuild her life, return to her career, finish her book, and join her son in playing the violin again—all depicted through a series of compelling recordings from her early days of recovery. The film screening will be followed by a panel and audience Q&A.

About the Film

My Brain: After the Rupture tells the indelible and inspiring story of broadcaster, writer, musician, and former WQXR Creative Director Clemency Burton-Hill as she rebuilds her life following a tragic brain injury. On a bright January morning in 2020, 38-year-old Clemmie suffered a catastrophic brain hemorrhage. Emerging from a 17-day coma unable to speak or walk, she was forced to reinvent her life. Using compelling recordings from the early days of her recovery, My Brain: After the Rupture follows Clemmie as she tries to return to her work as a broadcaster, finish the book she’d started before her brain injury and play her beloved violin again with her son in a powerful film about resilience, rediscovery and identity.
