The Future Perfect Project premieres a new documentary short film about their groundbreaking music residency: Future Perfect Records featuring young LGBTQ+ artists
The Future Perfect Project hosts the world premiere of “Because of My Voice,” a short documentary about the organization’s groundbreaking music residency program, Future Perfect Records. The premiere takes place at the prestigious Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater, the very stage where the program’s young artists performed nearly two years ago.
The 22-minute film chronicles a one-year residency where twelve LGBTQ+ youth artists from across the United States conceived, wrote, and recorded an original concept album titled “DIVINITY.” In October 2023, after a year of virtual collaboration, the cohort met in New York City for the first time to debut their album live at Joe’s Pub, a performance that marked both a creative milestone for these rising artists and a celebration of queer youth voices.
Nearly two years later, “Because of My Voice” revisits that unforgettable performance and the extraordinary young artists behind it. The documentary will screen as part of a 70-minute afternoon event featuring remarks from The Future Perfect Project and live performances by program alumni Alexis Krind, Tessa Barcelo, Chris Lunetta, and Michael Stolar. It's a celebration of LGBTQ+ young voices that you will not want to miss.
The Future Perfect Project (FPP) is a national arts initiative amplifying the voices of LGBTQIA+ young people (ages 13-22) through high-quality creative programs, media projects, and artist mentorship. Founded in 2017 by artists Celeste Lecesne and Ryan Amador, FPP provides queer young people across the country with professional tools and authentic spaces to express themselves, build community, and share their vision for a better future, one in which everyone is free to be themselves.
