Dancing Dreams at NYU Physical Therapy
Monday 28th September | 12:30 PM 380 2nd Ave, 4th floor, New York, NY, 10010
Dancing Dreams is a nonprofit offering adaptive dance classes for children and teens with physical or medical challenges, founded by visionary physical therapist Joann Ferrara. Each year, over 100 participants showcase their joy and achievement in a celebratory performance. Every dancer is assigned a “Helper” - who is usually a high school student teen volunteer who assists the dancer during classes and performances. Dancing Dreams has had an extraordinary impact on the lives of the dancers, their Helpers and their communities. Douglas Mu, a Dancing Dreams graduate, now enrolled at NYU Tisch will share his experience. Elaine Becker initiated a collaboration between NYU Physical Therapy and Dancing Dreams, and she will share her perspective.
