About the Event

Some of the most interesting photographers working today did not pick up a camera seriously until their fifties or sixties. These creative minds went on to publish books, exhibit internationally, photograph for major institutions, and build entirely new careers from a standing start. This discussion is a practical, hands-on example of how to do exactly that. Rather than treating a late start as a disadvantage, the conversation reframes decades of life experience as the greatest creative asset you have and discusses steps to building a photographic practice around it: finding a visual niche, building an audience and a network without an industry head start, and developing a distinct point of view.

Held inside ICP's William Randolph Hearst Library on the museum's second floor, this evening is designed for anyone who has wondered whether it is too late to start and wants a real answer.
