Saturday 20 September | 4PM Cedarmere Park, 225 Bryant Ave, Roslyn, NY 11576
A special performance in the Cedarmere Sunken Garden, the historic summer home of William Cullen Bryant, “America’s First Poet."
Dance Visions NY, in collaboration with The Friends of Cedarmere, present The Body Resilient: Visions of Art for Healing, an outdoor event at Cedarmere, the historic summer home of William Cullen Bryant, “America’s First Poet” and journalist.
This event is supported by Long Island Grants for the Arts through funds provided by the Office the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Huntington Arts Council. The event is additionally supported by a grant from the Malaika Amon and Anthony Bregman Fund.
The program features Dance Visions NY in reconstructions of rarely seen heroic and dramatic repertory of Isadora Duncan, alongside new expressive works. Many of the works are performed with live music. Themes of pain and healing, despair and hope, and resilience in the face of personal and global challenges weave throughout the concert.
The performance is dedicated to Isadora Duncan Dance master Adrienne Ramm, honoring her artistic legacy as she navigates illness.

Dance Visions NY, Inc., is Long Island’s celebrated dance company that presents Isadora Duncan repertory as well as contemporary works that often use Duncan principles to inform the movement approach. Dance Visions NY brings Duncan’s artistic legacy into the present through the performance of authentic Duncan works as passed on to Beth Jucovy through her 2nd generation Duncan mentors, as well as through presentation of original works, influenced by the Duncan aesthetic, that take on a different form in the modern world.
The company, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization since 2011, was originally founded by Beth Jucovy in 1990 as Dance Visions. Dance Visions NY has performed nationally, internationally, and extensively throughout the New York metropolitan area at universities, festivals, theaters, museums, schools, libraries, gardens, and historic landmarks. Jucovy’s original works often merge dance with spoken word, visual art, and music.
The company repertory focuses on works that express and explore our shared humanity — timeless themes as illustrated through the Duncan repertory as well as experiences of our current times. We bring pure dance works, dance/theater works and narrated, educational programs to local and wider audiences.
Often works are site-specific or tailored for particular venues or audiences. We also offer workshops relating to our programs. The contemporary choreographers include Beth Jucovy, and at times, other company dancer/choreographers.
