Join Theatre of the Oppressed NYC for a day of events using theatrical improvisation for resistance, solidarity-building, and connection.
The Melting Point is an interactive day of theatre, storytelling, and community building focused on immigrant justice. Through workshops and performances, participants will explore ways to challenge xenophobia, connect with others, and take collective action.
Theatre of the Oppressed NYC (TONYC) is a nonprofit organization that partners with communities facing systemic oppression to build power through participatory theatre. Using interactive performance techniques, TONYC works with immigrants, workers, students, and community members to explore social issues, strengthen leadership, and rehearse strategies for collective action. The event also features ESCUCHA, a Spanish-language troupe of immigrant activists from Queens who create original performances focused on workers’ rights, housing, and healthcare access.
