A screening and talk feat. the filmmaker who follows a group of Ukrainian refugee women as they turn textile workshops into spaces of solidarity, healing, and resilience.
A film documenting how weaving together becomes both an artistic practice and a form of community building, offering peace and connection in a time of displacement and uncertainty.
Presenting a work-in-progress screening of the documentary Weaving, available to watch online from September 20–29, this hybrid artist talk with filmmaker Hsuan Yu Pan and artist Ludmila Christeseva will be held on September 28 at 2 PM.
Weaving follows Christeseva and a group of Ukrainian refugee women in Stockholm as they turn textile workshops into spaces of solidarity, healing, and resilience.
This event is presented in collaboration with Filmshop. In addition to the screening, Christeseva’s artwork is currently on view at Filmshop House 4B in Nolan Park, Governors Island, open on weekends throughout September. The September 28 artist talk will take place in person at House 4B and online via Zoom, offering audiences near and far the opportunity to join the conversation.
